Current Medicines Supply Issues

There is a team within the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), who are responsible for managing medicine supply issues including shortages and discontinuations.

The team has close links with the secondary care regional procurement specialists and sits on the Pharmaceutical Market Strategy Group (PMSG). At each PMSG meeting, the DHSC team provide an oral and written update to the regional procurement leads about current issues, including management options to help mitigate the risk of these issues affecting patients. DHSC also produces a monthly report, which is more tailored to the primary care market and provides information on supply issues affecting primary care medicines. The document related to medicines supply issues and shortages can be found by following the link below and scrolling to the bottom of the page. However, please note supply issues and shortages are fluid and the picture can often change quite quickly.
