The NHS Five Year Forward View explains the need to redesign urgent and emergency care services in England for people of all ages with physical and mental health problems, and sets out the new models of care needed to do so.
On the 25th August NHS England published a national specification for Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) that sets out key actions required by commissioners to develop and implement an IUC service by March 2019.
Since the publication of the documents, HaRD CCG has taken some time to consider how the specification will impact on services in Harrogate and Rural District, and to allow for conversations with the public and key stakeholders.
During November, HealthWatch North Yorkshire, carried out a public engagement exercise asking members of the public about their experiences in accessing urgent care and how they might access services in the future.
The report commissioned through HealthWatch is available to view here.
HaRD CCG continue to consider the system wide change that is required to deliver the specified requirements and will maintain our commitment to ensure public and stakeholder opinion is part of the commissioning decisions about local urgent care health services.
